We met on the net - Now we run the eastcupid community

It just clicked and then we were a couple - Almost! Actually it was never my intention to find someone to fall in love with from the beginning. I was not at all interested in Russian women or to meet someone abroad but after trying to meet someone localy on several Swedish dating sites I had to try something new says Johan.

It took me actually not even one day to find Yuliya and the same evening we first met on internet we exchanged skype addresses and we chat for several hours. Then for several weeks we chat until late hours everyday before we finally planned to actually meet in real. Johan continues while Yuliya shows the chat log that she saved between them two.

Difficult to meet someone local on Swedish sites

Having tried online dating on all the major dating sites in Sweden and Norway Johan almost gave up the idea of meeting someone. It was most frivolous women on these sites he says. Or they never answered me on my letters i sent to any of them. Why that is I leave unsaid but I clearly felt frustrated he continues.

Tried online dating with russian women just for fun

It was really just a joke when I registered. A friend of mine knew a russian dating site and told me to try. As it was all in Russian he had to fill out my profile for me and lets just say he kind of exposed me as something im not and it took me some time to figure that out and change it, Johan laugh and continues.

After a few messages I found Yuliya. She was the first one to know English and she had a great sense of humor.

Yuliya is the most amazing person I ever met and she is so smart, humor and she cares about everything in a way I only could dream of. She is an amazing mother and she makes me feel complete. World record visa

Already during their first year together Yuliya visited Sweden several times. And soon they decided to get married. By this time we were pregnant as well and we really wanted to have her visa to Sweden fixed so we could give birth here and not in Ukraine, Johan explaines.

So they went to the embassy of Sweden where they had been several times before and kind of became recognized there. We explained them our situation and within a week Yuliya had her 2 year visa to Sweden. Wich were great for us of course, Johan smiles and looks at Yuliya.

2008 we started eastcupid

Johan is by profession a music teacher and Yuliya an Medical Engineer. And none of them had any relations to online dating more then that we met that way, Yuliya says. So they one day were walking and joking about what if we started a Swedish dating site between east and west. Thats how the whole idea got born and the rest is history...

Now we are more then 30,000 members wich makes us the biggest in Sweden and Scandinavia. We are among the biggest sites in Europe and we can finally live on our idea both financially and emotionally. Johan says.

The future is around the corner

Now Johan and Yuliya are looking forward to the summer and to finally have our first vacation in 4 years. Then we are going to start to plan for next summer when the Euro2012 will be in Ukraine. We have allot of dreams and plans that we just not yet want to reveal. But we can say that our members will be part of something big and unique. Says Johan.

And we are working as we speak on improvements on our sites and on dating tripps to Kiev. We only hope that next 4 years will bring us as much joy as the last 4 did.
